Information of Cerro Brujo beach

Cerro Brujo is an eroded tuff cone in several parts is composed of lava type a - a. It is formed by low-viscosity lava that contains little gas and break while solidifying and is pushed by lava still flowing from the rear.

Cerro Brujo beach is one of the white coral beaches most beautiful of San Cristobal. It was the first coast where Charles Darwin first walked in September 1835.

In this fascinating landscape of lava can observe boobies, gulls and pelicans. The sheltered bay is popular for young sea turtles and rays and there are excellent opportunities for swimming and diving.

The salt water pools behind the sand dunes were once used by fishermen as a salt mine.

Among the most attractive fauna is the Chatham mockingbird lava lizard and San Cristobal, both species endemic to this island, and not seen anywhere else in the Galapagos.

You can also find the Canary Islands, the Galápagos Flycatcher and hopefully the bird brujo (a subspecies endemic to San Cristobal).

This area belongs to the arid zone, the vegetation covers the whole path, where you can find species such as candelabra cactus, chala, carob, Muyu, palo santo, hawthorn and arrayancillo.

Cerro Brujo Beach is special for those who opt for peace. The white sand and water clarity are the perfect combination to enjoy an incredible break.
