Zaruma Ecuador

Zaruma is one of the most beautiful cities in Ecuador, located in the province of El Oro and is the head of the namesake canton. Information of Zaruma City

Zaruma is located in a mountainous area that is part of the mountains of Biscay, the same which is a branch of the Andes. The climate is sub-tropical, temperate and pleasant, because it has many impressive attractions.

Zaruma in Quechua means "corn head", a name attributed to the existing corn and gold mine, whose color is similar to an ear of corn.

This population was cantonizada on November 28, 1820, that is instituted before the Republic. In 1998 the Cultural Heritage Institute of Ecuador entered the city as a City Eligible Zaruma Cultural Heritage of Humanity with UNESCO, in this town was started authorities and citizens struggle to push forward.

No doubt for the tourists one of the main attractions of the city of Zaruma is gastronomy. Here you can find a wide variety of dishes like rice area-mote with cheese or pork and plantains ocelot is shredded into pan and mixed with egg and cheese.
