Cuenca Ecuador, Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art, formerly known as the Temperance House in 1981, then served as a detention center for patients and alcoholics. Located in the traditional district of San Sebastián in the city of Cuenca. Inside collections saved in painting, xilopintura, ink, drawing, screen printing, engraving, etching, photography and sculpture. Information of Museum of Modern Art

The museum from its inception was related to literature and fine arts, becoming the center of the artistic manifestations of the city, maintaining a constant promotional activity with exhibitions, lectures and concerts.

The museum in its galleries hosted art exhibitions from various parts of the country and abroad. The creations of artists displayed as Honorato Vázquez Cuenca, who was dedicated a retrospective exhibition, and has marked its history with exhibits such as the etchings of Goya, and productions of Jesus Soto.

The Museum of Modern Art through major donations has built the artistic, which is divided into eight International Biennial of Painting, two Grandmasters room and Andean Sculpture Hall, where you can obeservar pieces of art that are part Basin heritage. It also has a specialist art library.

International Painting Biennial

Andean Sculpture Hall
