Information of Loja City

Loja is a city of music and poetry, set in the most beautiful corner of the Ecuadorian mountains, is one of the oldest cities in the country, had two foundations: the first was in the valley of Garrochamba in 1546, with the name La Zarza, the second and definitive foundation was in the valley of Cuxibamba ("plain happy"), under order of Pedro de la Gasca, having undergone Pizarro, December 8, 1548.

The city rose in the middle of the delta formed by the rivers Malacatus and Zamora.
