Information of Quilotoa Lagoon

Quilotoa Lagoon, with an approximate diameter of 3 km and an average depth of 240 meters, is housed in the crater formed by the violent eruptions of the volcano of the same name, located on the slopes of the river Toachi. Its name comes from two Quechua words "Quiru" which means tooth and "toa" means queen due to the shape of the lagoon.

The mineral water of the lagoon are showing an emerald green color, which can vary to bluish green or almost yellow, according to the season.
