One of the most important tourist sites in the city of Guayaquil. It was originally known as "Calle de la Orilla", later called Simon Bolivar, however for 2000, the municipality decided to rebuild and improve it, with the idea of turning it into a tourist attraction, from the moment we know as Malecón 2000.
The Malecon 2000 extends from Basin Street in the south of the city to the "Barrio Las Penas" in the north. Located opposite the Guayas River and covering an area of approximately two and a half kilometers, contains entertainment, culture and nature.
The Malecon 2000 is divided into sections, they show a variety of attractions in the city.
Playground and exercises
This sector is dedicated to free entertainment and recreation for children and adults, with playgrounds, rest areas, exercise and restaurants and bars.
In the recreation area of infants, there is a playful circuitry for children who visit the Malecon 2000 accompanied by their parents, including the square of the wagon and places of rest under the shade of trees that have survived the earlier seawall.
The playground features a lookout tower, slide, slides, bridges, hammocks, carousels and other games that encourage children to enjoy healthy in a quiet and safe. It has also designed a skating rink.
The dining area has two buildings: the first contains in its first floor, a fast food establishment on the ground floor and toilets for the general public visiting the area, the second building is the restaurant bar hangover.

Gardens of Malecon
This area is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and colorful here, the diversity of over 350 native plant species and others that have been introduced into the country.

Here is the Civic Plaza with a gallery which honors the most outstanding in the history of Guayaquil. You can admire monuments and sculptures, including four of them representing the elements of nature: air, water, fire and earth.

Here you will find the monument to national hero José Joaquín de Olmedo, first mayor of the City and Precursor of the Revolution of October 9, 1820. Located on an allegorical to a set of cylindrical pools that enhance the environment.

South Market now also called the Crystal Palace has become the international art space. There have been exhibited works by Picasso and Rembrandt Artist Dutchman.
