Wolf Island, Galapagos Ecuador

Located 100 km northeast of the main chain of the Galapagos Islands, Wolf Island and Darwin are considered the best dive sites in the archipelago and the world. Named after the German geologist Theodor Wolf. It has an area of 1.3 km² and a maximum height of 100 meters. Here live fur seals, frigates, masked boobies and red legs, marine iguanas, sharks, whales, dolphins and swallow-tailed gulls.

Information of Wolf Island

Wolf is formed by the remains of an extinct volcano that reaches a maximum of 253 meters above sea level.

The Galapagos National Park does not allow tourist visits and their use is purely scientific and management. However, it is one of the places preferred by lovers of marine life.

Wolf on the Island can be found fur seals, frigates, masked boobies and red legs, marine iguanas, sharks, whales, dolphins and swallow-tailed gulls. There is also the famous vampire finch which feeds on the blood of other birds. It is endemic to the island.

Wolf is one of the main nesting sites of red-footed booby has a wide variety ichthyology, crystal waters and marine geographic conditions appropriate so close to Darwin Island are considered one of the best places in the world to observe life marina.

Wolf Island is a small tropical ecosystem that has the most representative coral reef of the archipelago, with more than 8 species of corals, including live the greatest diversity of tropical fish of the island.

The island lies at the level of the best places for diving, Belize, Australia, Egypt and the Riviera Maya. Here are the largest group of hammerheads.
