Information of Devil's Crown

The Devil's Crown is an old eroded volcanic cone and a popular roosting site for seabirds such as boobies, pelicans and frigates.

Located near the coast of Punta Cormoran, Floreana Island, considered one of the most exotic islands of the archipelago. Also known by the name of Santa Maria in distinction to the ships of Christopher Columbus.

Floreana Island has an area of 173 km ² and the highest point reaches an altitude of 640 meters. Was one of the first islands to be inhabited. Although undoubtedly the true ancestral inhabitants of the island would have to recognize them in its fauna: pink flamingos, sea turtles, birds are living legends of the island. In the area of Punta Cormorant, there is a colony of sea lions and near a lagoon with flamingos, stingrays, sea turtles and crabs.

The Devil's Crown, is a submerged volcanic cone, one can observe interesting coral formations. Subsequent eruptions and the mighty ocean eroded the cone with a needle teeth touch of black lava rising from the sea floor. The sharp decline of the area and strong currents attract fish of all sizes, making it an ideal site for deep diving and snorkeling in the islands.

Here you can see the beautiful marine life of Galapagos. Sharks are perhaps the main attraction of the Corona del Diablo, here you can see white tip shark reef, reef fish, manta rays, turtles and flamingos.
