Information of Baltra Island

Baltra also known as South Seymour, spaced just 150 meters from Santa Cruz Island. It is considered a historic site that was used as a United States air base during World War II.

Baltra is a flat, dry island surrounded by reefs and a few beaches. It has some vegetation and some Cactus Opuntia and other small trees.

Baltra Island unfortunately has a hotel infrastructure, nor places of sight. But it is where tour operators receive domestic and foreign visitors to start exploring the different islands of the archipelago.

Also in Baltra can find public and private transport, which is used solely to transport tourists to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. This tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. During this trip, you will experience the incredible changes in the vegetation of the island which will be very rewarding.

The crystalline water channel separating the island of Baltra Santa Cruz, you can see various species such as sea lions, birds and several species endemic to Galapagos.

Baltra Island also was able to find several places ideal for surfing, scuba and snorkel with the prior permission of the Navy of Ecuador.
