The mangroves of Puerto Hondo Protected Forest are part of the Guayas River estuary, is part of the buffer zone of the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest and Wildlife Reserve Mangrove El Salado. Located 17 kilometers from Guayaquil.
ITINERARY
Departure from the city of Guayaquil to Puerto Hondo, where ecotourism begin our tour boat, observed a great diversity of flora and fauna. Along the way, enjoy the pleasant coastal panorama. Before coming to the area of Puerto Hondo, pass through the Bosque Protector Cerro Blanco and El Salado Mangroves Wildlife Reserve, which have a rich migratory and resident wildlife.
After our visit we continue on a path of 20 km of mangroves, over an extended arm of the sea during the trip we enjoyed the presence of several species of birds such as herons, bird vague, and the parrot frentiroja, among other. Among the roots of mangroves can see the shells, mussels, oysters, crabs, crabs. We also found many species of plants that are part of this ecosystem as mosses, lichens, ferns, bromeliads and orchids, adjacent to the banks are several species of trees, shrubs such as leucaena, mate, niguito, carob, dried, among others.
