Information of Cave of Sucre

The Cave of Sucre is a new tourist site on Isabela Island has an area intended for forest nursery and home guards, who consistently work with volunteers and students in the ecological restoration project in the forest.

The Galapagos National Park Directorate, through the Technical Office Isabela Sucre opened cave which is an ideal place for teaching the flora of Galapagos.

To reach the Cave of Sucre is accessed through an eco-tourism trail built entirely of volcanic materials by the Galapagos National Park.

It has a trail of approximately 480 meters long, the same goes for the most part by a strip of vegetation typical of wetlands, crossed by a lava tunnel and eventually arrives at the premises of a nursery, the same is used to reproduce native and endemic plants.

Take a tour of the inside of the cave is an exciting adventure and an encounter with nature, which can see some see the bowels of a volcanic island.

The main objective of the Cave of Sucre is that it becomes part of the protected areas of Galapagos, by the ecological restoration of a rainforest in the agricultural zone of Isabela, through the eradication of introduced species and reforestation with native and endemic plants.
